I was not flirting with Shahid: Jiah

Jiah Khan has shot for two days for Ken Ghosh. And now she hears from the press that she's out of the film!

Bollywood plays strange games with those who aren't familiar with it.

Take Jiah Khan. She made a spectacular debut with an author-backed role in Ram Gopal Varma's Nishabd.

After that…nothing! Until Aamir Khan green-lighted her for a role in Ghajini.

Then suddenly everything started to fall in place. …Or so it seemed. Until strange stories about Jiah's conduct have surfaced.

Apparently she was shown the door in Ken Ghosh's new film with Shahid Kapoor. There was just one small problem.

Jiah wsn't informed about it.

She appears shocked by tales of her ouster. "I've already shot for two days for the untitled film with Shahid. After that there were scheduling issues.

My dates for Ken's film were clashing with Aamir and Ghajini. I couldn't possibly let the Aamir project suffer at any cost. It's my chance to create the impact that I couldn't, for some weird reasons, create after Nishabd."

Now Jiah is in fact all set to shoot for Ken's film. "I've already given my dates for Ken's shooting. No one has so far informed me that I'm not in the film. So it'd be right for me to presume the project remains as it is."

As for talk of her over-friendly messages to Shahid Jiah protests, "I've just sent him a couple of formal messages saying how much I'm looking forward to working with him. Is that wrong?" she asks with touching tenativeness.

She then whispers. "I'm new to all this. I keep to myself and I've no idea what people do in this industry. I am here only to work."

Jiah will have learn the hard way that PR skills are as important as professionalism.

In the meanwhile director Ken Ghosh suddenly surfaced to say Jiah was back in the project. "I wouldn't like to say much on the matter.I'll let my producers UTV clear all the misunderstanding.

But Jiah is very much in the project…This isn't to say that I don't want to work with Katrina. Of course I do. Look how hot she's at the boxoffice! We'll work together some other time. It's a small industry."

But how could Katrina be eligible for a role earmarked for Jiah??!!

"Why not?" Ken shoots back. 'Didn't Mr Bachchan do Zanjeer in place of Dev Anand? And didn't Mr Bachchan say yes to Deewaar after Rajesh Khanna opted? These things happen all the time. Like I said it's a small world."

Tashan Preview

Starring Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya
Rating: ** ½

The threesome on the way to god-knows-where need to escape from the cops. They get into blonde wigs and tight 'American' costumes and turn into item dancers for a Hollywood project called Holy Widows.

Holy shit! Tashan is so full of the milk of human zaniness that you feel it may at any moment topple over under the weight of its own cleverness.

If the bizarre brew of the cunning and the cool holds togther it's mainly because of Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor who a create a kaleidoscopic chemistry of crime and no punishment.

There's an ingrained energy in the proceedings, a ravishing rush of adrenaline and a whoosh of wunder-winks as though the man at the helm has a secret chuckle and a closet giggle underscoring every exaggerated swagger and every italicized moment in this story of four seemingly unscrupulous gold-diggers.

Three of them redeem themselves by the end of the film. As for the fourth, the villain played with feverish flatulent flamboyance by Anil Kapoor, you can't win 'em all.

Tashan is a winner in unexpected ways. First-time director Vijay Krishna Acharya spears the content to a dashboard that dashes all over the place.

Most of Tashan is a zany kookie ribald and riveting road movie about a naïve wannabe criminal Bachchan Pandey (Akshay Kumar), an English tutor named…er, Jimmy Cliff (Saif) trapped into a heist by a crimelord who wants to learn angrezi in haste, and an amoral pouty super-sculpted seductress Pooja (Kareena) who plays up the two men against one another and often breaks into steamy songs and provocative dances that suggest no link between the tale of the UP bhayya, angrezi masterji and the kanpuri coquette and the world that cultivates such freaked-out misfits.

Crime capers and road movies about characters who often get into outlandish costumes and foreign wigs at laconic locales have become a favourite at Yashraj.

Stories of small towners dreaming big have come and grown. Bunty Aur Babli worked. Jhoom Barabaar Jhoom did not. Tashan surreptitiously slips into the workable stratosphere, thanks to its super-motorized manoeuvres that take the plot into an area of utter originality.

Love or loath it, you've never seen a Hindi film like Tashan before.

Outrageous, over-the-top, opulent and audacious the debutant director turns formulistic conventions inside-out upside-down.

He pummels and tramples on the age-old material and emerges with images imprints and insignia that remind us that the global cinematic journey from Manmohan Desai and David Dhawan to Quentin Tarantino and Oliver Stone has come a full circle.

Tashan constructs a fool's paradise of caper- wanderers in search of that pot of gold at the end of the studio-generated rainbow.

The splash of colours (art director Sukant Panigrahy and DOP Anaynanka Bose have as much fun with the art décor and locations as two kids doing water colour in kindergarten) and the swirl of delightfully and daring caper-adventures as the greasy characters travel across Greece and Hindustan in search of anything but peace, is quite a gravity-challenging achievement.

The actors seem to be having loads of fun. Whether we share it or not, is entirely our look-out. If the truth be told the only one who seems to catch hold of the director's sur in totality is Akshay Kumar.

I'm not very sure why Kareena needed to re-sculpt her body to play the small-time schemer (was she playing Babli in search of a Bunty?) or the relevance of Saif Ali Khan's dropping moustache (is he a secret member of Ming dynasty?).

In fact Saif's relevance to the film escapes me. He rushes in as though to work over-time after Race.

He seems to have no idea of the rhythm and sur required for this extravagant take-off on Big Bad Bollywood's meanest conventions, and his set-expressions are more annoying than illuminating.

Anil Kapoor's Bhaiyyaji with his craving to master English is a monstrous aberration from the past. A mogambo from the stylized den in Mr India let loose in the city of the prowl to create a free-funded havoc.

Akshay steals the show in almost every frame.

Watch him in that tricky boat sequence with Kareena in Allahabad (yes we're taken from Uttar Pradesh to Greece to Rajasthan to Leh in this jerky joyride from hear to eternity-gritty) where he gets to know she's is his teenaged sweetheart from the town that was as frozen as the lakes of Leh and Greece.

Akshay takes this potentially trite and dangerously co-incidental sequence from level to level with a fluency that speaks volumes for his growth as an actor and his reverence for cinematic conventions.

You wish the director Vijay Krishna Acharya had shown some restrain in the action scenes.

The trouble is Tashan doesn't know where to stop. The situations get out of hand and dialogues like chadhi-sukhana and aurat ki ganji make you wince with their wonky witticism.

You can't blame Acharya for losing control. After a few reels of non-stop amorality the narration acquires its own volition.

It's the madness of the moment capturing the awkward avarice of a generation that believes money makes the world go round….or is it wrong?.... that echoes the perverse passion-play of Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.

Expertly assembled and skilfully knitted together the episodes hold together mainly because the warm sunshine of the outdoors complements the bronzed and over-baked ambitions of the characters.

Sometimes the stench of immorality gets overbearing. That's when Kareena's overpowering beauty comes in. She's partly Meryl Streep, partly Juliette Binoche.

What the film is, becomes harder to pinpoint. Just go with the four.

Hrithik won't leave Suzanne

Hrithik wants to be in town when Hrehaan gets his sibling.

At the moment the most nervous person in Mumbai is Hrithik Roshan. His second baby is due any day now.

And Hrithik has put all his traveling plans on hold.

"I'm just not stepping out of Mumbai for some time now. That's why I had to say no to the Zee awards later this week in London. Right now I can't focus on any work that takes me outside Mumbai."

Keeping in mind his determination to stay put in Mumbai Hrithik is at the moment shooting for Zoya Akhtar's directorial debut Luck By Chance in Mumbai.

The actor has a guest appearance in the film…A commitment he made long ago and is only too happy to fulfil since Zoya is not only a close friend Farhan Akhtar's sister but also the first female director Hrithik has worked with.

"We've shooting nights for the last few days. And I've one full song to do before I am done. That will keep me busy till the end of the week," says Hrithik.

Hopefully by the time Zoya's shooting is done Hrehaan will have his sibling. And Hrithik his freedom to travel again.

Katrina Kaif sister has come into Bollywood RACE

Isabel, a young starlet from the United Kingdom, is bent upon gatecrashing into Bollywood. But why is Salman Khan equally bent upon helping her out?

It would be natural for anyone maybe, not only for Salman, to play godfather to a sexy young thing especially if she has a striking resemblance to his steady Katrina (remember how he cast Sneha Ullal, an Aishwarya Rai look-alike, in Lucky?). What's more, Isabel even shares Katrina's surname, Kaif!

Well, she would share the surname, but not Katrina's boyfriend Salman. That's bvecause she is one of the seven Kaif sisters, and Katrina happens to be one of them!

Isabel Kaif is Katrina's kid sister, and has been seen in the background of recent Katrina photographs at various events. A sureshot signal of things to come, especiall pretty young things.

Salman Khan's Veer, whose story is credited to Salman, will commence shooting in August and director Anil Sharma is busy polishing off the dialogues at the moment.

Meanwhile, the buzz is that Isabel Kaif will be paired opposite Sallu Bhai! Salman has always been strongly bonded with his siblings, and they have all been one for all, and all for one.

Arbaaz and Sohail have produced and acted in films sharing the Khan synergy, as in Hello Brother and Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya.

Earlier, he gave music director duo Sajid-Wajid great breaks, as also cousin- singer, Kamal Khan. Lately, Partner was a film made only to help Govinda out of his career crisis.

So, is it any wonder that the story writer and star of Veer has been rooting for Isabel as the leading lady, especially when it has come out into the open that Katrina herself has nudged and pushed Salman and Anil Sharma!

Veer is a period drama set in the years 1852 to 1900. Salman's first period film looks like the perfect launch for her kid sister, feels Katrina. Officially however director Anil Sharma denies it all, calling it the usual rumour.

"I am working on the dialogues of the film. I am yet to finish some parts of the script. Once that is done then I will think about the casting.

All I can say at the moment is that Salman is in the main lead, but we are yet to finalise the leading lady," said Sharma.

Reportedly, Priyanka Chopra who starred in Anil Sharma's The Hero with Sunny Deol in her early career, has always wanted to be a part of all his films. Apparently, when she heard the story of Veer, she expressed her keenness to do the film.

Sharma denies this too. "No, it's not true. As I said before, we are yet to finalise the leading lady," he says. "I haven't signed any actress opposite Salman yet."

Sharma added that Salman gives major inputs in the script and dialogues though it's only the story that is his. "Being the son of the famous writer, Salim Khan, Salman has a great story sense. He has a very good sense of humour too."

Maybe it's Sharma's sense of humour too while denying all 'rumours'. So, who will it be as leading lady opposite Salman Khan in Veer? We would put our money, all of it, on Isabel Kaif.

If it turns out it's not she, but Priyanka or someone else, that would be a cruel joke by Sharma or Salman or both!

I don`t want to be typecast: Neha Oberoi

Director Sanjay Gupta's niece and budding actress Neha Oberoi, who features in the upcoming film 'Woodstock Villa', does not believe that having connections in Bollywood helps in the long run. 'In the film industry nobody would guide you just because you are the son or daughter of some celebrity. In the long run, only hard work and an actor's acting skills help,' Neha told on phone from Mumbai. 'In fact, it becomes more difficult because viewers' expectations increase manifold,' she added. Hansal Mehta's 'Woodstock Villa' is an action-thriller and the launch pad of Kirron Kher's son Sikander Kher. In the film, Neha plays the role of an aspiring model, Reshma, who can go to any extent to reach her goal fast. She said: 'Working with Hansal and Sikander was a wonderful experience. Sikander is very professional and full of energy all the time, which keeps your spirits high as well. 'And Hansal has loads of patience. Both of us were newcomers, but he never lost his cool, which is very important. Hats off to him,' said Neha, who last appeared in 'Dus Kahaniyaan'. While Neha is relatively new in Bollywood, she had featured in the Telugu film 'Balu' and even won the Filmfare award for her performance. Commenting on the difference between Hindi and regional language films, she said: 'Because of a different language, you have to put in lots of hard work in a regional film, while it is much easier to do a Bollywood film. So as soon as I got the offer I grabbed it.' Neha will also wow audiences in the film 'Easy Monthly Instalments' (EMI). 'I think I am lucky! I am doing films that are completely different from each other. Also, I don't want to be typecast.'

Abhi-Ash's big Anniversary plans

It isn't as if Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan planned to be in Miami for their first anniversary.

"It just happened," says the Big B. "Abhishek is shooting in Miami for Dostana on their marriage anniversary. And Aishwarya is going to be with him.

We'll get them by a new technology called skyscape to speak from Miami to mediapersons in Mumbai at the launch of Sarkar Raj which happens to be on the same evening as their wedding anniversary."

Ram Gopal Varma says it's just a coincidence that the unveiling of Sarkar Raj will take place on April 20.

"I didn't even remember it was Abhishek and Aishwarya's wedding anniversary on 20 April.

We decided to do the First Look party of Sarkar Raj on this day because it was six weeks before the release. It's just a coincidence. I don't keep track of anyone's birthdays and anniversaries, not even mine."

Ramu is excited about something else. "This is the first time the actors of an Indian film will be connected to the media via satellite. We're doing it through a technology known as skyscape.

I think it's very exciting to reach out by modern technology in this way. It's the First-Look party of Sarkar Raj. Aishwarya and Abhishek will be live from Miami in Mumbai."

However the Big B will be physically present in Mumbai at the event.

Tell Ramu that the Sarkar Raj event will be eclipsed by the excitement of the lead pair's wedding anniversary, and Ramu shrugs. "It doesn't matter. We can't separate Abhishek and Aishwarya's life from Sarkar Raj.

Very soon after the First-Look event we'll have the music release of Sarkar Raj. T Series is releasing the music soundtrack."

After all the friction with Bhooshan Kumar it's back to T Series!

Rubbish! I have not starved myself

Kareena Kapoor's next release is Yashraj Films' Tashan this week. "We've all worked really hard on the film. Let's hope it works. After Jab We Met another hit wouldn't hurt."

After Omkara Kareena is looking forward to another film with Saif after Omkara and Tashan.

"We're doing Renzil d'Silva's film together. But it's very important to keep the personal and professional apart," she says with a new-found wisdom. "Both Saif and I need to concentrate on our individial careers. No marriage for me for the next five years."

She also cuts down any speculation regarding her sister Karisma's comeback. "Where she will work? All her attention is taken up in looking after her daughter Samaira.

My niece is the apple of everyone's eyes at home…Come to think of it, the letter 's' has always been important in my life," she laughs, referring not just to her niece Samaira but also to Shahid and Saif.

Saif was recently in Bangkok shooting an ad with Priyanka Chopra.

Kareena who's known to be possessive about her loved ones was blissfully at peace with herself.

"I've never been more comfortable in my space. And when I read stories about me I can't recognize myself," Kareena sighs.

It hard for us to recognize the new ultra-svelte Kareena. Post-Jab We Met she has lost so much weight there is a ceaseless spurt of speculative stories about her weight-loss.

"People are saying I want to be like Victoria Beckham. I think the talk started when Saif got himself tattooed with my name. David had done the same for Victoria.

So…But honestly, I'm proud of my sculpted body. It's a look that I needed for my new film Tashan. But I haven't starved myself to look the way I'm looking these days. Why should I want to be like anyone else?

I've done nothing drastic to myself. I do yoga religiously. And I'm eating like any healthy girl, thank you."

She faints with amusement at anorexic stories about her. "It was written that I fainted on the sets because I've become weak. Utter rubbish! Kuch bhi likh dete hain. Have these people seen me in person?

I look no different from the way I looked earlier.I guess I'm just happy in life, and that shows. I haven't lost weight. I've just toned my physique, and that too for a role. "

If Kareena is glowing, it isn't just love. "I've right now entered the best phase of my career. Jab We Met has for sure been a turning point."

Her desire to pair with Aamir is fulfilled. "It was a dream to work with Aamir. We recently came close to working together in two films (Vishal Bhardwaj's Mr Mehta And Mrs Singh and Mani Rathnam's Lajjo).

It's finally happening. As for Rensil's film it's a stunning script. I'm doing something in it I've never done before"

Bebo-Shahid meet again after split!!!

Remember Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack in Serendipity meeting at Bloomingdale's over the Christmas shopping, getting attracted to one another though they are attached elsewhere? They make a promise to meet if they are destined to.

Peter Chelsom's Serendipity now has a desi avatar.

Boney Kapoor's Milenge Milenge in the making for almost two years now is getting ready for release.

Ironically the film stars the once-lovers Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. And since their first post-split film Jab We Met was such a whammer at the boxoffice, Boney of course wants to cash in on Milenge Milenge as the last film to feature the Jab We Met jodi.

For almost six months the producer has been chasing his dream pair.

But now the wait is over. After months of dillydallying Shahid and Kareena are dubbing for the film.

Says the director Satish Kaushik, "Shahid who's my neighbour has already started dubbing for the film.Kareena will dub as soon as she returns from abroad. Yes, the film does have elements of Serendipity."

The title Milenge Milenge suggests a touch of afterlife.

"No no. Milenge Milenge has got nothing to do with reincarnation. One film on that theme (Karzzz) is more than enough."

Kangana made Udita split???

There is trouble in paradise, between Mohit Suri and Udita Goswami.

Both of them had heated arguments on the growing friendship between Mohit and Kangana, who is shooting with Mohit in his film 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues'.

Mohit and Kangana are spending a lot of time both on and off the sets and that has made Udita insecure. Udita rubbishes this by saying that these are just rumors, and added that Kangana should not be dragged into this just because she is working with Mohit.

Earlier, Udita had created a scene during the shoot of 'Woh Lamhe', and the reason was Kangana even then. Mohit and Udita have been in a serious relationship since 2005, when she starred in his movie, 'Zeher'.

Here's competition for Hrithik

Watch out. Bollywood is turning super-athletic. Not only are we being treated to a series of sport-centric films like Shimit Amin's Chak De (hockey), Vivek Agnihotri's Goal (football) amd Nisha Chainani's forthcoming Mumbai Marathon, our heroes are constantly searching out new adventure-sports for Hindi films.

In Dhoom 2 we had Hrithik practising water and ice sports that Indian audiences had never seen. In Anubhav Sinha's forthcoming Cash Riteish Deshmukh did Street Luge which is actually about lying down on a skateboard and chasing cars.

It looks like Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and all other super-atheletes of Bollywood have stiff competition.

By practicing the bracing outdoor sports called Parkour Harman Baweja has just become Indian cinema's first certifiable Traceur.

Explains Harman, "Parkour is actually urban free –running. What it requires you to do is run across streets, building precipices, skyscrapers in one linear movement without breaking the momentum and without being mindful of the hurdles. That's precisely what I've done in Love Story 2050."

Apparently Harman was severely bruised and battered in doing the unprecedented. "It wasn't easy. But nothing challenging is easy. And I love challenges.

Our audiences are bored of watching the same supposedly heart-in-the-mouth stunts. They want to see new stunts. They got it in Dhoom and Krissh. Hopefully what I've done in Love Story 2050 will also be a new experience.

Jumping from skyscrapers is passé. Jumping over them is the new high," Harman ends tongue-in-cheek.

Bipasha joins John in Miami after opting out of ‘The Unforgettables’.

Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana’ in Miami is turning out to be a paid vacation for the stars as first Big B, Ash and Jaya planned to join Abhishek and now, its Bips, who joined John for the shoot schedule.

The golden sand, perfect beach weather coupled with a smooth martini is what John and Bips seem to be enjoying as the actor has managed to get a break from his shoot schedule considering Karan is currently filming an item number with Shilpa Shetty.

Bips is basking in the success of ‘Race’ and the actress, who was part of ‘The Unforgettables Tour’, decided to drop out of the tour as her demands of matching her fees to that of Ash’s was turned down by the producers.

Wizcraft however; denied the compensation conflict rumors and instead shared that Bips decided to walk out on them at the last minute due to personal reasons.

The actress also, did not want to be part of the tour as then, the ‘Billo’ be the only outsider with Big B, Abby’s Baby and Bahu Ash on the tour.

Katrina Kaif all set to give Ash a run for her money

Katrina Kaif is riding high on her career as she has more than ten big projects, but one movie she is sure excited about is Vipul Shah’s ‘Namaste London’ and if you wondering what’s so special about this movie; well, the director was planning to cast Ash as the leading lady, but decided to opt for Katrina instead.

Katrina is currently shooting in London and loves every bit of it as she is not only spending time with her family in her home town, but she is also the tour guide to Vipul and is taking him to her favorite places in the city. Adding ‘Namaste London’ to her kitty is a big feat for Sallu’s Kat, who we guess is meowing Ash away for now.

SAIF - KAREENA MARRIAGE AFTER 'TASHAN' RELEASE?

One of the Bollywood's hottest couples - Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor - is anxiously awaiting for their first release 'Tashan' post their affair. Incidentally, their love blossomed during the making of this movie and might result in their marriage after its release. Though Kareena is quite outspoken, her producer Aditya Chopra has warned her not to talk about the film. It seems Yash Raj believes in keeping things under wrap. Needless to say that the couple has turned out to be a unique selling proposition of the film and Yash Raj is using this hot couple for the promotion of their film. This is enough to create curiosity among Saif and Bebo's fans.

Though the couple has always denied their early marriage report; it seems the buzz will certainly help their first film 'Tashan'. However, the release of the movie depends on the decision either to include or do way with a particular scene of the bikini-clad Kareena Kapoor (who shed huge weight to look ultra-thin in the film). There is a mystery about this scene if it's there or it's not there. On the one hand, it is said that Kareena asked everyone in the unit to leave the sets when she shot for the scene recently excepting the director, the cameraman and Saif. Another view is that Kareena refused to shoot the scene to maintain her girl-next-door image as the bikini scene may spoil her new image. We hope the producer as well as Kareena will decide among themselves about it sooner than late lest it loses sheen.

Kareena Kapoor cheers for Miss India contestants: Photos

April 6, 2008 (Sawf News) - Kareena Kapoor, attired in black leather corset top, black harem pants with an embellished waist, and loads of bling, performed at the Femina Miss India 2008 contest at Andheri Sports Complex Saturday evening, April 5.She cavorted to the tunes 'Its Rocking' and 'Mauja Mauja,' popular songs from her films, and cheered for the final five contestants.

Kareena claims to have lost 11 kgs of weight for Tashan reducing from 60 Kgs to 49 Kgs.

She recently boasted to the TOI, "I have really worked hard on my body. So when people say it's a result of starving, I feel terrible. I am a Kapoor, I just love food, but zipping my mouth on the wrong food worked. Turning vegetarian also helped. I am into salads, now, and have discovered various ways of making them."

Despite what the Kapoor motor mouth says, we still see flab on her stomach and her upper arms.

She may have leaned on a lot of obliging journalists to run articles on her amazing transformation and size zero looks, but she doesn't fool us.

Kareena is a talented actress and has definitely reduced, but she is no size zero, and she is a loud mouth.

Harman Baweja's 'V' for Victory

Saif Ali Khan inscribed lady love 'Kareena' on his hand and the whole world oogled while he tried hard to play Led Zeppelin's rock guitar. Cricketer Usman Afzal followed soon with Amrita (Arora). And now, there's another hot tattoo that's doing the rounds in Bollywood but more for pragmatic-n-professionally stylish reasons. Harman Baweja reportedly has got a big 'V' tattooed on his back. When Bollywood Hungama called up the hunk, he confirmed the news but politely apologized stating he has been asked not to speak to the press yet. Considering his big debut Love Story 2050 is awaiting release, we guess it's understandable.

Baweja's business manager, Gauri Malhotra, stated that the tattoo is meant for Harman's under production Victory. “Harman is having a big V on his back in the centre. It's a painted tattoo. It's just one of those elements in the film that heightens the character,” Gauri says. Ajit Pal, director of Victory added, “V stands for his character name Vijay. It also stands for Victory which is the title of the film.” Harman is also having Vijay inscribed in Devnagri (Hindi) script on his hand as well. Were you inspired by Saif's Kareena tattoo? “Absolutely not. In smaller towns names are generally engraved on the hands. It is inspired from reality,” Ajit refuted.

Victory is the tale of a young man from Jaisalmer who goes on to become one of the biggest cricketers in the world. “It is based on modern cricket.” Ajit said. An added attraction to the premise of Victory is the presence of lots of world cricketers like Wasim Akram, Ravi Shastri, Brett Lee etc. With IPL bidding creating news world over and with presence of cricketers from all the cricket playing nations in your film, do we see a league system being created in Victory to create a novelty value? “Victory is as contemporary as IPL,” Ajit Pal signs off.

Himesh shoots three songs for Karzzzz in South Africa

The unit of Satish Kaushik's Karzzzz came into a bit of serious scare when political unrest and widespread riot broke out in one of the film's primary locations in Kenya. The location was then shifted to South Africa.

Says Himesh, "I really don't know what had happened. But the producer, Bhushan Kumar, and director Satish Kaushik heard the news about the widespread political unrest in Kenya. So, they decided to shift the location for Karzzz from Kenya to South Africa."

Adds Satish Kaushik, "I was very keen to shoot Karzzz in Nairobi. But there was turmoil right across Kenya! I also wanted to shoot some key action scenes with Himesh involving aircrafts in Mombasa which is such a beautiful place. But we quickly had to shift location because riots broke out days before we were supposed to start shooting. So, we shifted the action scenes to Cape Town."

Himesh, recently, shot at the posh casino at the Emperor Palace in Johannesberg. Says Satish, "We shot two lavish songs in this location with Himesh, his leading lady Shweta and Raj Babbar. The first song was a party song 'Mashallah Tera Chehra' when Himesh sees Shweta for the first time. We shot with a group of ballroom dancers from a well-known troupe in South Africa. The second song 'Rab Kare Main Mar Javan' was a romantic duet with Himesh and Shweta with fifty hip-hop and cabaret dancers. I'm now shooting a background song 'Dhoom Tere Ishq Ki'."

Satish is happy with the performance of Indra Kumar's daughter who stars opposite Himesh. "I had auditioned her before signing her. She's got what it takes. I should know because I've in the past introduced Tabu in Prem, Bhumika Chawla in Tere Naam and Sheena Shahabadi in my forthcoming Tere Sang. So I guess I'm qualified to recognize talent."

Satish promises that the songs in his Karzzz would be on a scale that we've seen in Subhash Ghai's Karz. "But let me make it clear that Himesh and I aren't trying to compete with Rishi Kapoor and Subhash Ghai. This is our homage to the earlier Karz."

Kareena: I can't wait to marry Saif

It seems like Bebo and Chhote Nawab, who made their relationship public last year, can't wait to any longer to get together and their wedding could take place after the release of Tashan on April 25.

“Yes, I am going to get married very soon. Initially, Saif and I thought of giving our relationship some time before we get married. But now I don’t think either of us can wait any longer. So may be, post the release of Tashan this month, you all can see us wedded,” she told the press.

Bebo also refuted the rumours of their secret marriage saying, "Geeting married secretly was just a silly rumour. Why would I hide if I had gotten married? That would be the day for me. Only I know how I’m looking forward to it.”

Incidentally, it was on the sets of Tashan that the two fell in love. To prove his prove Saif even got her name tattooed on his arm.

"It's true, we came closer on sets of Tashan and that's the reason it will always be close to my heart. It was during this time that, Saif took me out for a candlelit dinner and proposed to me. By then I was too much in love with him to have said no,” told Kareena.

So will she continue working in films or take a long sabbatical like her contemporaries?

"Why would I stop working after marriage," she asks. "Today I’ve already reached the Rs 3.5 crore package and I hope to work and earn more in the coming years. In fact I already have some big projects in hand which are slated to release by the year-end."

But will Bebo keep her words this time? Let's wait and watch.

Kareena Saif On Set Of Tashan

Yash Raj Films is all set to kick off the year 2008 in splendid style through “TASHAN”. The movie directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who was the screenplay & dialogue writer of mega hits like “Dhoom”, its sequel “Dhoom:2” and “Guru”, marks the return of one of the most loved on-screen pairs of Bollywood- Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan.

With TASHAN, even Anil Kapoor makes a comeback to Yash Raj banner after a long gap of 15 years. His last film with the banner was “Lamhe” (1992), which also starred Sri Devi, Waheeda Rehman & Anupam Kher. The movie will also have Kareena Kapoor playing a very glamorous role. She will play the romantic interest of Akshay and Saif in the movie.

Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan had a spate of successes, the biggest being Yash Raj’s very own “Yeh Dillagi”(1994) & director Sameer Malkan’s “Main Khiladi Tu Anaari” (1994). Apart from this, the pair was seen together in “Tu Chor Main Sipahi” (1996), “Keemat” (1998) and “Aarzoo” (1999). Saif has already been a regular with Yash Raj (“Hum Tum”, “Salaam Namaste” and the much recent “Ta Ra Rum Pum”), but Akki’s last flick with them was “Dil to Pagal Hai” (1998).

Anil Kapoor will be seen playing a negative role in the film. Although, he has played characters with negative shades but it would be his first role as a villain.

Director Vijay Krishna Acharya, also known as “Victor”, has journeyed from films to television to films. He became assistant to Kundan Shah on “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa” starring Shah Rukh Khan. Then he moved to television and scripted non-formulaic serials like “Son Pari”, “Just Mohabbat” and the popular “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi” (he was the creative & story supervisor for the first 260 episodes). But he couldn’t resist himself and returned to big screen while lending his credits to “Dhoom”, “Dhoom:2”, “Pyaar Ke Side Effects” and “Guru”. TASHAN would be his debut as a director.

Certainly, the balance cast of this biggie promises to be a real entertainer… !!!!
